white hunters Dear Brian Herne,
I have now two copies of your book that i have studied intensly both in Mauritius and France where I am based. I am a documentary filmmaker and I am preparing a film about the the white hunters, their origin, their history, their bravery, galantly and stories.Your book is a wonderful source and inspiration.
Being a Swedish woman and brought up with huntingstories and a bit related to Bror Blixen, and Ulf Aschan,( my father's best friend) I am infused by the the game and the wildlife. Also by my grandfather who went on safari with Kris Aschan, or my uncle who has lived in Africa.
Recently I have done a film about Laikipia with interviews with Jasper Evans, Gilfrid Powys etc.
Now I would like to continue the odyssé and start a new chapter. Therefore I would very much appreciate to meet you at one stage in the processing of the documentary.
If you would like to visit my sites you get some info about me.
With my sincerest regards,
Elizabeth Lagercrantz

Roy Holme My mother is the god-daughter of Roy Holme who was also a great friend of my grandfather Cyril Terry. I am trying to get a photo of Roy and any information on any living relative of his or other information about him from his hunting times in East Africa and retirement in UK. I believe his daughter is alive there. Many Thanks

Cyril Terry I would be interested to know if this was Cyril (Harold) Terry who served with the East African Protectorate Telegraph Section in World War 1, born in 1892 and originally came from Essex.
Many thanks

Many thanks Dear Mr Herne,
Greetings from The Netherlands. I am a hunter myself and greatly enjoyed your book "White hunters". It is a gripping story from the beginning till the end. I already bought 10 copies and distributed them among my hunting mates.
Your story gave us many evenings to discuss that good old time we will never be able to experience ourselves. However you gave an opportunity to experience it from our readingchairs. Many thanks and I hope you receive this message. Regards Marc Strack

Book White Hunters Just read your excellent book.I always thought African Hunting was relatively safe. Apparently not. The death rate among the Professionals is apalling. It seems more like war than hunting.

Bror von Blixen Do you know of any biography in English of Baron Bror von Blixen-F? His is a story yet to be told, and I am very interested. Thank you.

hunter I am thirsty for more. No amount of reading satiates my curiosity of and captivation for East African paradise in the late 1800's and early 1900's. The safari i took in Tanzania recently followed up with a stay in Mnemba, just further ignited my passion for the romance; landscape, colors, smells, rawness, purity, totally devoid here in Manhattan. What else can i read???

Selous Just read your book White Hunters. I know the book covers East Africa, vice South Africa, Rhodesia/Zimbabwe, etc.. But you mention Frederick Selous in passing -- without hitting on the fact he was a great hunter in his own right. Maybe one of the best ever! Am I too sensitive? I really enjoyed your book though.

I first read Uganda safaris when it was first printed and it was one of the two books that inspired me to become a PH and I owe you my eternal thanks for that.
All these years later, I now would very much like to discuss something with you that I'm sure you will be of interest to you.
if there's any chance you could contact me by email, I'd be very grateful.

Uganda Safaris & Murchison Falls National Park Dear Brian,
I am currently researching the history of Uganda National Parks, with special reference to Murchison Falls National Park.
I have been up to stay with Roger and Jeannie Wheater in Scotland recently and I know you were good friends with them both.I have also managed to get in touch with a whole host of other people involved with wildlife in Uganda at that time. It's been very interesting.
I would be very eager to discuss parts of 'Uganda Safaris' with you, and to learn more about UWC.
The research will both form content for a new museum in Paraa, covering the history of the area, and will be part of a history thesis I am working on.
If you could let me know what you think, that'd be great.
Best wishes,
Ade
